tumblrbot asked: WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?
ANSWER: My paternal grandfather’s funeral at age 3.
I wasn’t quite sure what was going on but I remember almost choking on a piece of hard candy waiting at the funeral home and tossing pennies into his slightly opened casket.
It’s amazing now that I think about it: He was born in 1889 (like whoa, he lived in the 1800s!) and died in 1987 at the age of 98. He came to the US and was put to work on the railroads in California. The man had two wives (it was totally chill back then). I think he lived quite a life. He wasn’t too fond of me because I was a grand-DAUGHTER but because of this, it is the reason why I am the way I am today—I partly contribute my drive and strive for excellence to him. I hope the long-life gene runs in the family… RIP Grandpa George
Quizno’s (2009): “Tasty Torpedo”
Not sure how closely y’all have been paying attention to ads from Quizno’s over the years, but there’s sort of a consensus (at least in my office): they’re definitely strange. We’ve seen furry, unknown creatures (maybe lemurs?) and various “Singimals”—dogs, cats and squirrels. Currently on Quizno’s YouTube channel, they have THE strangest spots promoting their Bacon Chicken Dipper (click here to see my most favorite one outta the four).
Anywho, I digress… Back to this “Ad of the Day!” During a creative brainstorm meeting today, my Production Manager brought up the ad above because we were talking about innuendoes and food. Like any Quizno’s ad, this is ALL kinds of wrong. However, you have to give props to the actor—the man did an excellent job portraying the “I’m uncomfortably having sexual tension with an oven” persona. Gee, I wonder what his motivation was…
This pair of ad boards can be found in the Powell BART Station in San Francisco. It’s one of 16 pairs (I think I counted 32 total). The “Mother Lode” one isn’t what caught my attention—naturally, seeing 32 of these babies was what originally caught my attention. I think it’s my inner science geek but the [Au]SOME is truly AWESOME! :) I always enjoy Chipotle ads when I see them. Their ad guys do good work!
